living in a world of shadows
thinly veiled attempts at reality
reaching out to touch illusions
they disappear as if on a breeze

sand castles in the sky
washed away by a sea of tears
riptides pulling me into the abyss
flooding the canyons in my mind

imperfections glaring in the light
accomplishments eclipsed by the dark
emotions weighing heavy on my heart
